Hobby & Tool•Backend Experiment
xTinyDB
An experimental cloud-synchronized key-value database service for no-code mobile builders and rapid prototyping.
What It Is
When building early mobile applications on platforms like MIT App Inventor or Niotron, storing dynamic data in the cloud required wrestling with external backend setups or clunky third-party databases with convoluted auth tokens.
xTinyDB was an experimental, developer-friendly backend service exposing a clean REST protocol that allowed no-code mobile apps to persist and retrieve key-value pairs instantly.
What It Does
- Key-Value HTTP API: Store and fetch structured strings, numbers, and JSON arrays with simple GET and POST requests.
- Tag Namespacing: Keeps user and application data segmented and isolated across sessions.
- Embedded Storage Backend: Uses lightweight embedded storage for rapid response times and minimal server resource consumption.
Skills Used & Key Learnings
- Early backend API architecture, query serialization, and understanding the persistence constraints of visual mobile application builders.
- Directly contributed to the developer empathy that later fueled building production platforms like Niotron and Duddy.
